In this video, the Caretaker Minister of the Displaced, Issam Charafeddine, seems lost between two Lebanese speeches towards the Syrian refugees. He claimed that they do not work because of what they get from the United Nations organizations, which he thinks is enough for them to live, but he still uses a non-magnified number (surprisingly) for what a family of five can earn (in case they are in fact included in the aid programs), which does not ensure the simplest, most basic needs of life, in light of the collapse of the Lebanese pound.

On the other hand, in what we have witnessed in the recent weeks, in terms of official and popular incitement campaigns (from which there were Charafeddine’s colleagues in the government), people not only exaggerated the wages of refugees, but also insisted that the Syrian workers had taken over the labor market. Which means that they are indeed working. Do Syrians – as a whole, of course – work or not? Do they get paid thousands of dollars or not?

Many Lebanese, including Charafeddine, must decide their position, because this contradiction is no help to their incitement.
