لم نعرف بعد من اعتدى على مقابر بلدة دير الأحمر، في ليل 12 أيار 2023.
لكن، بعد ساعات من الاعتداء، قرر موقع IMLebanon، في عنوان خبره، أن «سوريين حطموا مقابر مسيحية في دير الأحمر!». وكان محتوى الخبر كالتالي: «اعتدى سوريون على مقابر مسيحية في منطقة دير الأحمر، وكسروا الصلبان وحطموا المقبرة».
انتشر الخبر. واتهم السوريون/ات من كل جهة، حتى أن محافظ بعلبك الهرمل بشير خضر، متفاعلاً مع الأخبار الكاذبة هذه المرة بدلاً من صناعتها، دعا أهالي البلدة إلى «ممارسة أقصى درجات ضبط النفس، وانتظار نتائج التحقيق».
في اليوم نفسه، عدل الموقع المُضلل عنوان خبره إلى «تحطيم مقابر مسيحية في دير الأحمر!». وغيّر صياغة الخبر إلى «تعرضت مقابر مسيحية في منطقة دير الأحمر للاعتداء حيث تم تكسير الصلبان وتحطيم المقبرة. وفيما تتحدث مصادر أمنية عن مسؤولية عدد من النازحين السوريين، رفضت تأكيد الموضوع قبل انتهاء التحقيقات داعية الأهالي إلى عدم استباق الأمر».
لا توضيح ولا اعتذار، بطبيعة الحال، بل إصرار على التضليل والتحريض. والأسلوب المعتمد في التراجع بعد النسخة الأولى الفضائحية، يشبه ما تفعله مواقع أخرى. أي نسب الكذب إلى «مصادر أمنية»، تتحدث عن مسؤولية سوريين/ات، لكنها لا تؤكد.
يمكننا أن نستهجن كل ذلك بالتأكيد. لكن، عندما نعرف أن الصحافي طوني أبي نجم هو ناشر هذا الموقع، يبدو كل ما يحصل منطقياً. فالتضليل مهنته. وهو، في السنوات الماضية على الأقل، كان مستعداً لفسخ نفسه دفاعاً عن الحرامي رياض سلامة، حتى أنه قال مؤخراً (مقابلة مع صوت بيروت إنترناشونال في 1 أيار 2023) ببلاهة المطبل الرخيص إن مريان حويك (مساعدة سلامة وشريكته في نهب المال العام والخاص) قدمت منصة صيرفة بالمجان لكل اللبنانيين/ات ليستفيدوا منها. مع العلم أن هذه المنصة ليست إلا أداة مضاربة حققت أرباحاً غير مشروعة لقلة نافذة على حساب كل اللبنانيين/ات.
طبعاً، موقع التضليل Lebanonon لن يغيب عن هذه المهزلة التحريضية على اللاجئين/ات. في 13 أيار، نشر خبراً عنوانه «الاعتداء على مقابر مسيحيّة في دير الأحمر.. تحقيقات جارية: نازحون سوريون أم عامل حيواني؟»، ويستند في متنه (الذي هو العنوان نفسه تقريباً من دون أي إضافة) إلى «مصادر أمنية».
هكذا، وضع الموقع القراء والتحقيقات أمام احتمالين لا ثالث لهما: إما السوريين/ات أو الطبيعة.
في هذه الأيام، يبدو اللاجئ/ة السوري/ة في لبنان متهماً نبحث له عن جريمة. مع ذلك، هذه ليست حالة كلية.
في 13 أيار، سارع رئيس بلدية دير الأحمر لطيف قزح ليس لتصحيح مبالغات الإعلام في توصيف حجم الاعتداء على المقابر فحسب، قائلاً إنها «حادثة بسيطة»، بل أكد أن «لا اتهامات موجهة إلى أحد وخاصة الأخوة السوريين» أيضاً (تصريح لجريدة الأخبار، في 13 أيار).
وكرر تصريحه نفسه عبر وسائل إعلام أخرى. حتى أنه، في 14 أيار، ظهر في مقابلة مصورة مع صوت بيروت إنترناشونال من داخل المقبرة نفسها، ليؤكد أن ما جرى تداوله بشأن الاعتداء كان مضخماً ولا يمت للواقع بصلة.
في المقابل، استغل النائب السابق إميل رحمة، وهو من البلدة، الحادثة للتحريض على السوريين/ات، في اتصال مع OTV في 13 أيار، رغم مدحه حكمة المنتظرين/ات لنتائج التحقيق، وتذكيرنا بأنه محام يحترم قرينة البراءة. وهذه حقارة تؤهله بالتأكيد ليكون رئيساً للجمهورية، يوماً ما.
On the Deir al-Ahmar incident: looking for a crime to accuse a Syrian
It is not known yet who attacked the cemetery of Deir al-Ahmar, on the night of May 12, 2023.
Still, hours after the attack, “IMLebanon” website published the headline, “Syrians destroyed Christian cemeteries in Deir al-Ahmar!”, and continued writing the following: “Syrians attacking Christian cemeteries in Deir al-Ahmar: they broke the crosses and destroyed the graves.”
The news spread. Syrians started getting blamed from all sides, to the point that even the governor of Baalbek – Hermel, Bashir Khodr, interacted with the false news which, for once, he hadn’t fabricated himself, calling on the residents of the town to “control themselves to the maximum, and wait for the results of the investigation.”
On the same day, the deceitful website changed the headline to “Christian Cemeteries destroyed in Deir al-Ahmar!” And edited the content of the news to “Christian cemeteries in Deir al-Ahmar attacked, crosses were broken and graves were destroyed. Security sources talk about the involvement of some displaced Syrians, but still refuse to confirm this before the end of the investigations, urging the public not to anticipate the matter.”
Of course, deception and incitement went on, without any clarification or apology. And the method that was used to retract the first defamatory version of the news, is similar to what other sites usually do, that is, attributing the lies to “security sources” that speak of the involvement of Syrians, yet never confirm it.
We certainly condemn all of this, but knowing that the publisher of this website is the journalist Tony Abi Najem makes everything seem rational, as deception is his point of expertise.
While he has always been eager to defend the thief Riad Salameh, at least during the past few years, in a recent interview with Sawt Beirut International on May 1, 2023, he idiotically praised Marianne Howayek (Salameh’s assistant and his partner in looting the public and the private money) saying that she had provided a free exchange platform for all the Lebanese people to benefit from. When in reality this platform is nothing but a speculative tool that has made illegal profits for a few powerful people at the expense of all the Lebanese.
Of course, “Lebanon On” website had something to say about this hate farce against the refugees. On May 13, they published a news article entitled “Assault on Christian Cemeteries in Deir al-Ahmar… Ongoing Investigations: Displaced Syrians or a brute factor?” Its content (almost the same as the headline, without any addition) relies on “security sources”.
In that way, the site presented the readers with two options: it’s either Syrians or nature.
These days, we seem to be searching for a crime to blame the Syrian refugee, who always appears to be accused. Yet, this is not the case entirely.
On May 13, the president of the municipality of Deir al-Ahmar, Latif Kozah, not only hastily corrected media exaggerations describing the scale of the attack on the cemetery as a “simple incident”, but also affirmed that “there are no allegations aimed at anyone, especially our fellow Syrians” (a statement to Al-Akhbar newspaper, May 13)
He repeated his statement through other media platforms. He even appeared, on May 14, in a video interview with Sawt Beirut International from inside the cemetery itself, to confirm that the rumors about the attack were exaggerated and had nothing to do with reality.
On the other hand, former deputy in the parliament Emile Rahme, who is from the town, took advantage of the incident to incite against the Syrians, in a call with OTV on May 13, where he praised the wisdom of those awaiting the investigation, and reminded us that he is a lawyer himself, and that he respects the presumption of innocence. This baseness certainly qualifies him to be president of Lebanon, one day.
