خصصت بلدية الدكوانة السوريين/ات بقرارها بدء “حملة واسعة النطاق في مختلف أنحاء شوارع البلدة ترمي إلى حجز كل الدراجات النارية المخالفة التي يقودها السوريون”.
ووفق بيان البلدية، الصادر في 22 آب 2023، فإن القرار العنصري جاء “بعد الشكاوى المتكررة من الأهالي عن مخالفة هؤلاء لأصول السلامة المرورية والقيادة وحتى الآداب العامة، مما يشكل خطراً على المارة”. يعني، المشكلة في “هؤلاء” أنفسهم/ن، أي السوريين/ات، وليس بالدراجات النارية المخالفة، التي قد يقودها لبنانيون/ات أيضاً.
والحال أن هذا القرار، في عنصريته، ليس أول إجراء تتخذه بلدية الدكوانة بالتمييز ضد السوريين/ات ومضايقتهم/ن. مثلاً، في حزيران 2022، أجبرت عدداً من السوريين/ات، بعد توقيفهم/ن ومصادرة أوراقهم/ن الثبوتية، على توقيع تعهد بالعودة إلى بلادهم/ن. هذا عدا عن حملات التفتيش العشوائية للشقق والبيوت، كما أعلن باعتزاز رئيسها أنطوان شختورة، بالإضافة إلى منع التجول.
Dekwaneh municipality continues to harass Syrians
The municipality of Dekwaneh designated the Syrians by its decision to start “a large-scale campaign across the town’s streets aimed at impounding all illegal motorcycles driven by Syrians.
According to the municipality’s statement, issued on August 22, 2023, the racist decision came “after repeated complaints from residents about Syrians violating traffic safety principles, driving norms and even public morals, which poses a danger to pedestrians”.
This means, that the problem is Syrians themselves, and not the unauthorized motorcycles, which could also be driven by a Lebanese”.
This is not the first racist decision taken by the municipality of Dekwaneh against Syrians.For example, in June 2022, after arresting a number of Syrians and confiscating their papers, it forced them to sign a pledge to return to their country. This is, in addition to the random inspection campaigns of apartments and houses, as its president, Antoine Shakhtoura proudly announced, in addition to the curfew.
