على مدخل حديقة الحرج، التابعة لبلدية سن الفيل، عُلقت لوحة تشير إلى أن الحديقة «مخصصة للبنانيين فقط، ممنوع دخول الأجانب»، في قرار تمييزي عنصري يناقض تماماً مفهوم المساحات العامة والغاية منها.
هذا القرار يستكمل ما بدأته البلدية في أيار 2023، عندما أصدر رئيسها نبيل كحالة، في سياق الحملة التحريضية ضد السوريين/ات في لبنان، قراراً تمييزياً وغير قانوني يمنع تجول «الأجانب» في شوارع البلدة بعد الساعة الثامنة ليلاً، بذريعة «حصول عدة حوادث سرقة وإخلال بالقانون من قبل المقيمين الأجانب».
Sin el Fil Municipality Bans Entry of “Foreigners” to its Public Park
A sign was hung at the entrance of the Horsh Park, which belongs to Sin el Fil municipality. The sign indicates that the park is “for Lebanese only, foreigners are not allowed”, in a discriminatory and racist decision that contradicts the concept of public spaces and their purpose.
This decision follows what the municipality began in May 2023, in the context of the incitement campaign against Syrians in Lebanon, when its president, Nabil Kahali, issued a discriminatory and illegal decision banning “foreigners” from walking in town’s streets after 8 p.m. citing “several incidents of theft and lawlessness by foreign residents”.
