قبل نحو أسبوع، لجأت عاملة إثيوبية، تعيش وتعمل في لبنان، إلى مركز جمعية «قره كوزيان» في برج حمود. وهي تعاني من مشاكل في الغدة الدرقية، وسبق لها أن راجعت منظمة «أطباء بلا حدود»، التي طلبت منها الذهاب إلى المركز، الذي هو منظمة غير حكومية تقدم خدمات صحية أولية، لاستكمال العلاج فيه.
في نهاية الأسبوع الماضي، وصلت إلى المركز بصحبة طفلها. حجزت دوراً، استلمت الإيصال الذي يحدده، وجلست تنتظر.
عندما حان وقت معاينتها، سمحت إحدى الموظفات لشخص آخر بالدخول. توجهت نحوها وأخبرتها أنه دورها، فكذّبتها. عاودت الانتظار، لكن الموظفة أدخلت بعده شخصاً آخر، فأظهرت لها الإيصال الذي يثبت أن دورها قد حان. رمت الموظفة الإيصال في وجهها، قائلة لها «روحي مش رح مشّيكي».
دافعت العاملة الإثيوبية عن حقها بالمعاينة، قائلة إنها «مش رح فل قبل ما شوف الحكيم»، فهددتها الموظفة «إذا ما بتسكتي رح جبلك البوليس». أجابتها «اعملي اللي بدك ياه، مش رح فل بدي شوف الحكيم».
خلال هذا الوقت، استمرت الموظفة بإدخال مرضى آخرين. وبينما كان الطفل يبكي، طالبتها برؤية المسؤول عنها، أو عن المركز، فاستمرت بتجاهل طلبها، مصرة على مغادرتها المركز. لكن لاحقاً، وفق العاملة الإثيوبية، تدخّلت موظفة أخرى، وسمحت لها بالدخول إلى غرفة المعاينة.
An Ethiopian worker is subjected to racism in “Karagheusian” health center
About a week ago, an Ethiopian worker, that lives and works in Lebanon, went to the center of “Karagheusian” association in Bourj Hammoud. She suffers from thyroid problems, and had previously consulted the “Doctors Without Borders” organization, which guided her to this center inorder for her to complete the treatment there, as it is a non-governmental organization that provides primary health services.
Last weekend, she arrived at the center alongside her child. She reserved a turn, received the receipt for it, and sat their waiting.
When it was the time for her to get examined, one of the employees let another person in. She headed towards her and told her it was her turn, but the employee did not believe her. She waited once more, but then again the employee let another person in. She showed her the receipt proving that it was her turn, but this employee threw the receipt in her face, telling her, “go away, I’m not letting you in.
The Ethiopian worker defended her right to be examined, saying that she was “not leaving without seeing the doctor”, but the employee threatened her, “if you don’t stay quiet, I’m going to call the police”. She replied, “Do whatever you want, I’m not leaving, i want to see the doctor”.
During this time, the employee proceeded to admit other patients. And while the child was crying, she asked her to see the person in charge of her, or that in charge of the center, but she continued to disregard her request, insisting on her leaving the center. But later, according to the Ethiopian worker, another employee intervened and allowed her to go into the examination room.
