صباح اليوم الأربعاء، استدعت مفوضية الأمم المتحدة لشؤون اللاجئين بعض اللاجئين/ات السوريات/ين إلى مركز ناصر في بر الياس للتأكد من تطابق بصمة العين مع ما هو مسجل في بطاقات المساعدات.
وبعد انتظار دام ساعات بسبب «عطل تقني»، بحسب تبرير المفوضية، ظهر سائق «توك توك» لبناني وبدأ «بتنظيم الدور» وتسهيل دخول معارفه إلى المركز بالاتفاق مع الموظفين، بحسب ما روى بعض الحاضرين لـ«أخبار الساحة».
وبعد اعتراض المنتظرات/ين على التجاوز الحاصل للدور، قام السائق برفع عصا كانت بحوزته، وبدأ بملاحقتهم/ن وشتمهم/ن وتهديدهم/ن، كما يُظهر الفيديو المرفق.
في المقابل، لم يحرك موظفو المفوضية ساكناً لردعه، وبرروا ذلك بأنه لم يضرب أحداً. ويسأل أحد الشهود «هل يجب أن يضرب أحداً كي يتحرك موظفو الأمم، وما شأنه هو كي ينظّم الدور طالما أنه ليس موظفاً؟».
Syrian refugees tyrannised in front of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees center in Bar Elias
Today, Wednesday morning, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) called for some Syrian refugees to the Nasser Center in Bar Elias to ensure that their eye prints match what is registered in the aid cards.
After having to wait for hours due to a “technical malfunction”, according to the Commission’s justification, a Lebanese tuk-tuk driver turned up and began “organizing the turns” and facilitating the entry of his acquaintances into the center in agreement with the employees, according to what some of those who were present told “Akhbar al-Saha”.
After those who had been waiting objected to the crossing of the queue that was occurring, the driver raised a rod that he had and started chasing, cursing and threatening them, as the attached video shows.
On the other hand, the UNHCR staff did not even try to deter him, but rather justified his actions on the grounds that he did not hit anyone. One of the witnesses asks, “Does he have to hit someone in order for the employees of the nations to react, and what is his business in organizing the turns if he is not an employee?”
