مساء 30 نيسان 2023، تعرّض طفلان سوريان للضرب من قبل مجموعة من اللبنانيين في الشارع الرئيسي لفرن الشباك.
وقال شاهد على الاعتداء، لـ«أخبار الساحة»، إنّه خلال مروره في الشارع رأى تجمعاً لنحو 15 شاباً يضربون أشخاصاً مرميين على الأرض، بينما كان آخرون يلاحقون أشخاصاً لم يتمكن من رؤيتهم. «ظننت أنّهم عثروا على سارق متلبّس ويريدون ملاحقته وأخذ حقهم منه، لكن ما إن اقتربت حتى رأيت يدين ملطّختين بالدماء، وشاب يمسك طفلاً وآخر يضربه، وإلى جانبهم طفل آخر يبدو أنه ضُرب سابقاً».
حاول الشاهد أن يوقف الاعتداء على الطفل، لكن أحد الشبان قال له «هذا سوري». وأمسك بالشاهد من ظهره، ووجهه نحو رجل ستيني، أخبره «سُرق مني 2000 دولار وابنتي تأذت». لكنّ الشاهد قال إنه لم يفهم شيئاً. كان «الكلام بلا معنى أو منطق، الطفلان صغيران ليكونا قد ارتكبا شيئاً. ولم أفهم ما علاقة ابنته بالموضوع. خفت من نظراتهم التي لم يكن فيها إنسانية، بل فيها فراغ فقط لأن الطفلين سوريين».
غالبية المتفرجين، وفق الشاهد، كانت مع الاعتداء، إلّا قلة قليلة ظلت بعيدة ولم تتدخل. وقد دفعه خوفه وهلعه إلى الاتصال بالدرك، ليتم الرد عليه بـ«أعطهم رقمك وهم سيتصلون بك»، إلّا أن أحداً لم يتصلّ. فعاود الاتصال بمخفر فرن الشباك ومفخر آخر، لكن لم يحصل على أي نتيجة أخرى غير انعدام الاكتراث.
حدث ذلك كله بينما كان الطفلان مرميين، لمدة ثلث ساعة، على الطريق. وهو ما يفترض أن كاميرات المراقبة الموجودة في المكان وثقته.
Two Syrian children assaulted in Furn el-Chebbak
On the evening of April 30, 2023, two Syrian children were beaten by a group of Lebanese people on the main street of Furn el-Chebbak.
An eyewitness to the attack told “Akhbar al-Saha” that, as he was passing by, he saw a group of around 15 men beating up someone on the ground, while others seemed to be chasing another person that he could not spot. “At first, I thought they had caught a thief in action and wanted compensation but, as I got closer, I saw a man with blood on his hands holding a child that another man was beating. Next to them was another kid who also appeared to have been beaten”.
The witness tried to stop the men, but one of them prevented him saying “he is Syrian”. He then talked to a man in his sixties, who claimed that “2000 dollars were stolen from him”, and that “his daughter was hurt”. The witness said that he understood nothing: “None of this made sense. These two children were too young to be accused of anything. I couldn’t comprehend what the daughter had to do with all this and I was just terrified by their inhuman looks, by how empty they were, just because the two children were Syrians.”
He said that the majority of people around supported the attack, with the exception of a few of them who kept their distance and did not intervene. Out of fear and panic, he ended up calling the police who took his number and promised to call back, but nothing happened. He then contacted two other police stations, one of them in Furn El Chebbak, but was only met with lack of care.
All of this happened while the two children were being thrown on the ground for over twenty minutes. Surveillance cameras located in the area must have recorded everything.
