في 13 أيار 2023، تعرض شابان سوريان للضرب من قبل مجموعة تتألف من نحو سبعة شبان في منطقة الأشرفية.
وأدى الاعتداء العنيف، الذي استعملت فيه أداة حديدية، إلى ضرر بالغ في عين أحد الشابين، الذي كان يعاني من مشاكل سابقة فيها أجبرته على إجراء 5 عمليات من قبل، ليتمكن من الرؤية عبرها.
بعد الاعتداء، نُقل الشاب إلى المستشفى، حيث أفاد الأطباء أن وضعه خطيرٌ جداً وعلاجه مكلف. ثم نُقل إلى سوريا، بعد التواصل مع طبيبه فيها، الذي أصر على نقله خلال 24 ساعة.
في سوريا، خضع الشاب لعملية طارئة، لم تظهر نتائجها بعد، في ظل احتمال فقدانه بصره كلياً في العين المتضررة. أما الشاب الآخر، فأصيب برضوض في وجهه.
وكان الاعتداء حصل نهاراً، أثناء مرور الشابين في أحد شوارع الأشرفية، حيث كان يجلس شبان من المنطقة. وبنية الاستفزاز، سألهما الشبان «ليه عم تطلعوا فينا؟»، ليردا «ما عم نطلع». ثم سألوهما عن اسميهما وأين يسكنان، وقبل أن يجيبا بدأوا بضربهما. ومن المرجح أن الشبان علموا أنهما سوريان من لهجتهما.
يذكر أن الشابين دخلا إلى لبنان بشكل قانوني ومؤقت. فأحدهما جاء من سوريا بهدف الزيارة، وكان يخطط للسفر خلال بضعة أيام إلى الإمارات. والآخر، دخل عن طريق تأشيرة نقابة المهندسين.
Two young Syrian men beaten in Ashrafieh, one of them could lose an eye
On May 13, 2023, two young Syrians were beaten by a group of about seven men in Ashrafieh.
In this violent assault, an iron tool was used, severely injuring the eye of one of the young men, who was already suffering from it and had undergone 5 surgeries to be able to see.
After the assault, he was transported to the hospital where doctors confirmed that his condition was very serious and its treatment costly. When contacted, the young man’s doctor in Syria requested an emergency transfer, within 24 hours.
In Syria, he went through an emergency surgery, the results of which are still unknown. The injury could possibly leave him completely blind in the damaged eye. As for the other young man, he was left with bruises on his face.
The attack happened in broad daylight as the two young men were passing by a bunch of local men sitting in a street in Ashrafieh.
Seeking provocation, the local men asked, “Why are you looking at us?”, to which the young men replied, “We are not.” They asked them about their names and where they lived, but before they could even answer, they started beating them. It is likely that they figured that they were Syrians from their accent.
It is worth noting that the two young men entered Lebanon legally and were on a temporary stay. One of them came from Syria for a visit and was planning to travel to the Emirates within a few days. The other entered the country through the Engineers Syndicate visa.
