مع استمرار الاعتقالات والترحيلات التعسفية للاجئين/ات السوريين/ات، من قبل الجيش، كان لا بد لقائده جوزيف عون، أخيراً، أن يقول مبرراً إن «لبنان لم يعد يحتمل»، خلال زيارته فوج الحدود البرية الأول في شدرا (عكار)، الجمعة في 12 أيار 2023.
ليس أن لبنان ما عاد يحتمل فحسب، بل إن حقوق الإنسان التي يحترمها عون إلى أقصى الحدود، تبين أن لها حدود أيضاً. وحدودها هي، بالتأكيد، «المصلحة الوطنية العليا التي تبقى بالنسبة إلينا أولوية مطلقة». أي أن عون استخدم لتبرير التعسف وصفة مثالية في غموضها، لكن مستهلكة، تتمحور حول الوطن ومصلحته وكرامته وحقوقه، مثل كل أقرانه.
حقاً، ما «المصلحة الوطنية العليا» في إرسال مئات من السوريين/ات إلى الموت (حتى الآن)، وترهيب مئات آلاف في مخيماتهم/ن وبيوتهم/ن؟
قال عون، بعدما افتتح طرقات في الحدود الشمالية (وهذه مهمة الجيش طبعاً)، إن الجيش «ينفذ قرارات السلطة السياسية وفقاً للمعايير الدولية الراعية لحقوق الإنسان ونحن نحترمها إلى أقصى الحدود، بما يحفظ المصلحة الوطنية العليا التي تبقى بالنسبة إلينا أولوية مطلقة. حقوق الإنسان وُجدت لتحفظ كرامته لا لتدمّر حقوقه ووطنه، ولا أحد يزايد علينا في هذا الموضوع. لبنان لم يعد يحتمل، وكل لبناني على كامل مساحة الوطن مسؤول، نظراً إلى الخطر المحدق الذي يواجهه بلدنا».
The Lebanese Army Commander can’t take it anymore
With the continuous arbitrary arrests and deportations of Syrian refugees by the army, its commander, Joseph Aoun, eventually had to justify his orders during his visit to the 1st Land Border Regiment in Chadra (Akkar), on Friday in May 12, 2023, saying that “Lebanon can no longer endure this”.
Not only “Lebanon can no longer endure this” but it has become clear that there are also limits to human rights, which Aoun claims that he fully respects. And these limits are, of course, “the highest national interest, which remains our absolute priority.”
In other words, to justify his arbitrariness, Aoun, just like his colleagues, relied on an ideally ambiguous but depleted excuse, centered around the country, its interests, its dignity and its rights.
Where is the “highest national interest” in sending hundreds of Syrians to death, and terrorizing others inside their camps and homes? Nobody knows.
Aoun said, after the opening of the northern borders’ roads (which, of course, is the job of the military), that the army “is implementing the decisions of the political authority in accordance with international human rights standards, that we fully respect, in what preserves the highest national interest, which remains our top priority. Human rights exist to preserve a person’s dignity, not to destroy his rights and his homeland, and this is not something that’s negotiable. Lebanon can not take it any longer, every Lebanese throughout the country is responsible for this in the light of the imminent danger our country faces”.
