صباح أمس الجمعة، جال محافظ بيروت مروان عبود في النويري في بيروت، لإحصاء اللاجئين/ات السوريين/ات الذين لا يملكون إقامات.
وبعد ساعات، حضرت دورية من شرطة البلدية إلى شارع الأوزاعي في المحلة، وطردت هؤلاء من بناية يسكنون فيها، وأقفلتها بالشمع الأحمر.
وتذرعت دائرة العلاقات العامة في بلدية بيروت، في بيان صدر أمس، أن المبنى «بكامل طوابقه يستثمر دون ترخيص ومشغول من قبل أشخاص من التابعية غير اللبنانية ولا يستوفي شروط السلامة العامة والحماية من المخاطر والحريق والشروط الصحية، مما يشكل ضرراً وإزعاجاً كبيراً وخطراً داهماً على المحيط والجوار».
مستوى البلطجة في ما جرى أمس كان ملفتاً. ذلك أن هدف المحافظة لم يكن إلا طرد اللاجئين/ات إلى الشارع، أي حرمانهم/ن من مساكنهم/ن وتشريدهم/ن، من دون إنذار مسبق أو تحديد مهلة زمنية للإخلاء، يستطيع خلالها السكان إيجاد بديل لهم/ن.
Beirut governor expels Syrian refugees from their houses in al-Nwaire
Beirut Governor, Marwan Abboud, visited al-Nwaire neighborhood on Friday morning, to conduct a census of Syrian refugees who do not have residence permits. Few hours later, a municipal police patrol came to “Ouzaii” street where they kicked people out of the building and sealed it with red wax.
The Beirut Municipal Public Affairs office issued a statement yesterday claiming that the building “with all its floors was built without a license and is occupied by non-Lebanese people. It does not meet the public safety requirements and is not protected from risks, fires, and bad health conditions, which might cause great damage and inconvenience, it might be imminently dangerous to the neighborhood and the surrounding area”.
The level of repression in what occurred is staggering. The governorate’s sole purpose was to expel the refugees to the streets and deprive them of a home. It all happened without prior warning, without setting a time limit for evacuation during which the inhabitants could have found an alternative stay.
