منع منتجع Lazy B، في الجية، عاملة أجنبية من السباحة في مسابحه والبحر، في 30 حزيران 2023، متحججاً بزي السباحة الذي ترتديه (Swimming Jumpsuit)، إذ لا يتناسب مع «سياسة» المنتجع التي تفرض ارتداء زي سباحة من قطعة واحدة أو اثنتين.
ووفق ما نشرت Magali Dandolo، التي كانت شاهدة على المنع، في بوست على انستغرام، في 3 تموز 2023، فإن أحد المسؤولين عن المنتجع كان عدوانياً وقليل الاحترام تجاه العاملة والعائلة التي ترافقها. كما أنه استشهد بما حصل في شاطئ صيدا، من منع لسيدة من ارتداء لباس السباحة، لتبرير قراره التمييزي بحقها.
المشكلة لم تقف عند هذا الحد، إذ صادف وجود النائبة القواتية غادة أيوب في المنتجع، وقررت التدخل. فسألت، بعنصرية ووقاحة، عما ترتديه العاملة تحت زي السباحة، مبررة سؤالها بـ«النظافة»، داعية إياها للذهاب إلى الشواطئ المخصصة للنساء.
هكذا، نحن في حدث واحد أمام قرار ذكوري تجاه النساء، وحقهن في ارتداء ما يعتقدن أنه مناسب لهن، يتخذه منتجع يسطو على الأملاك العامة وحق كل الناس بالاستنفاع منها. وأمام نائبة قواتية، تتجاهل كل ما سبق، بما في ذلك التعدي على الأملاك العامة ومخالفة القوانين وحقوق الإنسان البديهية، لتتساءل عن «النظافة».
Sexism and Racism in Lazy B: Ghada Ayoub was Here
On June 30, 2023, The Lazy B resort, located in Jiyeh, prohibited a foreign worker from accessing its pools and sea, pretexting her swimming jumpsuit was inappropriate and did not comply with the resort’s “policy” that requires a one or two-piece swimsuit.
According to Magali Dandolo, who witnessed the incident and posted about it on Instagram on July 3, 2023, one of the resort’s officials was aggressive and disrespectful towards the worker and her accompanying family. To justify his discriminatory decision, he referred to the incident of Sidon Beach, where a woman was prohibited from wearing a swimsuit.
The issue didn’t stop there. It so happened that the Lebanese Forces Party deputy in the parliament, Ghada Ayoub, was present at the resort and decided to intervene. She asked, with racism and audacity, about what the worker was wearing underneath her swimsuit, justifying her question with concerns about “cleanliness,” and urging her to go to women-only beaches.
Thus, we find ourselves facing a single event involving a masculine decision towards women and their right to wear what they believe is appropriate. This decision is made by a resort that encroaches on public property and the rights of all people to enjoy it. And in the presence of a Lebanese forces Party deputy in the parliament, who ignores all of the aforementioned, including encroachment on public property, violation of laws, and basic human rights, only to inquire about “cleanliness.”
