في إطار مكافحة تهريب الأشخاص والتسلل غير الشرعي عبر الحدود البرية، أحبطت وحدات من الجيش، بتواريخ مختلفة خلال الأسبوع المنصرم، محاولة تسلل نحو 850/ 1100/ 1200 سوري عند الحدود اللبنانية السورية.

خلال شهر آب الجاري، أوقف الجيش اللبناني 7000 سوري أثناء محاولتهم التسلل إلى الأراضي اللبنانية عبر الحدود الشمالية. الرقم الضخم، في شهر واحد، يقابله دخول مئات، وحتى الآلاف، يومياً عبر الشريط الحدودي الشمالي.

منذ نحو شهر تشهد الحدود اللبنانية السورية تدفق أعداد من النازحين السوريين بشكل غير مسبوق منذ سنوات عدة وتشير الإحصاءات إلى توقيف نحو 8000 سوري خلال شهر آب الفائت.
